A photograph of a historic building in Dijon, France, made during a road trip through France to draw cathedrals, historic buildings, and heritage sites.
Dijon, the historic capital of Burgundy, has been shaped by centuries of French history. Its medieval streets, half-timbered houses, and distinctive stone architecture reflect its long history as a center of art and culture and the former seat of the powerful Dukes of Burgundy.
This photograph is part of an ongoing collection documenting the architecture and places I encountered along the way. Through photography and drawing, I am interested in the ways buildings carry the history of a place, and in the small details that reveal how people have lived, worked, and moved through these spaces over time.
