Inside my studio
The places where I draw are essentially endless. My favorite supplies are compact, made for travel; but it was necessary to create a space for creativity in my home. I took all my books about art and maps to this room, along with musical instruments, and a closet-full of arts and crafts supplies.
Here I sit for hours redrawing the buildings I discover on my travels, and also making maps, which can’t really leave this room until they are finished.
On this page, I will share what I am currently reading, which artists might be inspiring me, what styles I’ve recently found interesting, my favorite supplies and even a bit about music or podcasts that I have playing while I work.
On my bookshelves
-
- Hahnemuhle Watercolor Notebooks for travel are my absolutely favorite. (Cold Press 250gsm, A6 Portrait)
- Arches watercolor paper, alternating between the cold and hot pressed for individual illustrations.
- Pigma Micron pens. Can’t live without them. From sizes 0.03 to 08.
- Escoda travel series brushes. Perla and Reserva Kolinsky collections.

I love to draw stone, brick and ornaments. Norman castles are great, some Gothic cathedrals are also fun to sketch loosely, even though they take a very long time. Drawing brick buildings is quite meditative, so when I arrive to a new city, I usually start with a brick building to loosen up.

I definitely want to work on some collections exploring the history of Mexico and Pre-Hispanic art. Also, I’d love to make a few maps of the Balkans, both current and historical.
Artist Corner
Here are a couple artists that are inspiring me at this moment. Hope you get to know them a little more!
Pilar Dibujito makes artistic stamps and creates art from the metro tiles in Buenos Aires.
Photographer Sofia Argüello. Her experiments with cyanotype are a joy to see, I love her eye for detail.
